I forgot to mention that I recently added a new feature to Wine By The Color ... a section for photo galleries. Someday, I may get the Hawaii pictures together. There are just so damn many of those. For now, I've got a few other things posted including, as of today, a gallery of shots from Monday night's football game.

Adorable pictures. I look like an idiot in a hat. You look cute.
I hope you were nice and buzzed, because it looked really cold. And how on earth does one transport a chiminea?

Some would argue that I look better with a hat hiding half my face than without...
Nice and buzzed ... that's one understated way to put it. As I said to the Professor yesterday as we tried to piece the evening back together, red wine (from a jug, no less), blackberry brandy and eggnog is a hell of a combination. And not one I plan to repeat. Ever.
As for the chiminea, I am glad you asked that question, because now I can go into it in more detail.
The Professor and his wife brought the chiminea. It was still in the box, never used. So while the Professor started to cook meat on the grill, his lovely wife read the directions to the other guys at the tailgate, who assembled it.
Four hours of toasty fire later, they poured several gallons of water on it to extinguish the flames. They then disassembled the chiminea and put it back in the box for transport home.
It was a fine tailgate addition, but it's amazing how much fire and smoke the thing emitted. Everything I wore, including the scarf, hat and gloves, reeked of smoke. And I barely stood next to it.

Was it windy? What were you burning in it? A few of my friends have some, and they're not really smoky unless there's a strong wind.
Your friends are very brave. I would have been driving home with one eye on the back of my car, wondering when it might burst into flame.

Chiminea? That sounds like a creature in a Lord of the Rings sequel. I couldn't make a $30 hibachi grill (yes, I realize that also sounds like a LOTR reference) cook, much less a contraption that requires much construction.

It was extremely windy. Ridiculously windy. That may have indeed been the problem. Because the only thing I recall seeing in the contraption was wood.
Brave. Hmm. Some other folks might have another word for it.
The only reason the sci-fi sounding fireplace was successfully constructed is because it was done before the drinking really got out of hand. Had they waited at all, we'd have been fire-free.

Well, I said "brave" because they are your friends and I didn't want to say "crazy." ;)

Happy New Year.
Notre Dame 37, Ohio State 4.
And if anyone sees Maurice Clarett, do not, i repeat, DO NOT, try and apprehend him. He is armed, and extremely dangerous, as are most football players who were Buckeyes.

"But drinking around a fire I can really get behind, yo."
Hee hee!

Why were no pictures of Cliffy or Shane included? It's an outrage.

LS: I'll admit, that's a bad job by me. But as the pictures might indicate, I'd had enough tastes by that point to make me happy I could take pictures of anyone, let alone make sure I had canvassed the entire crowd.
