wine by the color

A few months ago, the Captain and I saw my favorite anonymous commenter, BB, at a Jets' tailgate. Sometime during the day, BB blamed the Captain for my lackluster posting on Wine by the Color, arguing that since we've been dating, I've been a much happier person and thus less inclined to offer angry rants on the blog.

He probably had a point. I still have my moments - for instance, last week I received a promotional e-mail from NJ's largest paper offering "Camping at It's Best," which made me want to punch someone in the head, and you can always count on my friends at Continental to do something stupid. But generally speaking, my blood pressure doesn't get any near as elevated as it used to. I have a lot to be thankful for and find it easier to enjoy those things instead of focusing on the negatives.

Yesterday was a day filled with good moments, starting at 4 a.m. when we arose to join two of his friends for fishing. The plan was to head out to the Resor wreck, about 25 miles off shore.

I went out with KJ the night before. Had I known we were going to be powered by three 250-HP engines, I might have a few less beers...

But my stomach managed to calm itself and we spent a few hours fishing the wreck. Didn't catch a lot, but enjoyed a great day on the water.

My line kept getting caught on the sea floor, and we got the chance to see the possible culprits - these crazy-looking, sticky sea creatures that were probably stuck to the wreck but attached themselves to my line.

From there, it was on to a birthday party for the Captain's cousin, where I did cartwheels with the 6-year-old guest of honor, threw a football with her 9-year-old brother and cracked jokes with his delightful grandfather, who celebrated his 80th birthday last week. Then it was on to sushi and hibachi with the girls before rejoining the men at someone's house, where we enjoyed wine, music, chatter and laughter on the porch until late in the evening.

So really, what do I have to complain about...

Of course, remind me I said this a few months from now, when I start bitching about the Jets.
